Volunteer registrations now being accepted for the 2018 Staal Foundation Open.

July 9-15, 2018 at Whitewater Golf Club


We were thrilled to have over 400 amazing volunteers at last year’s event!

In 2018, we are looking for 400+ volunteers to participate at this exciting event, which will raise money for local charities and create an economic impact for Thunder Bay and the region.  Volunteering is a fun way to give back to your community, make new friends and get “inside the ropes” with the up and coming stars of the PGA TOUR.  Your involvement as a volunteer will help to create a unique experience for players and spectators and ensure a lasting legacy in the Thunder Bay area.

The Volunteer Fee for 2018 is $40.00.

Your volunteer package will include:

  • Official Tournament golf shirt as part of the volunteer uniform
  • Your choice of a cap or visor (visor quantities are limited to the first 100 orders)
  • Cinch/sling bag
  • Breakfast snacks, lunch and beverages during volunteer shifts
  • Two weekly passes to the event
  • Discount coupons including discounts on golf passes
  • Special pricing on event merchandise
  • Invitation to Volunteer Appreciation Party at the conclusion of Tournament Week
  • Free parking and transportation to and from the course from designated parking lots

 

Volunteer F.A.Q

Personal Details

Minimum age is 16 years as of July 9th, 2018 for most volunteer positions. However, 14 and 15 year old volunteers may be considered for specific roles with Scoring or the Practice Facility. Admissions: As the tournament welcoming committee, you will greet and admit everyone entering the tournament grounds. For more information click here.

Caddie Services: Organizing, distributing and collecting caddie bibs. For more information click here.

Communications/Media: Transport media to and from locations on the golf course; posting to the web and social media and assisting with the operation of the jumbotron. For more information click here.

Event Setup & Maintenance: Assist Tour & Tournament staff with the setup and removal of tournament infrastructure (roping, meshing, etc.), for water distribution, garbage collection and attending to maintenance issues. For more information click here.

Guest Relations/Host Volunteers: Direct and assist players, volunteers and spectators to ensure they access the proper areas of the event. Act as Host/Hostess for visiting groups. For more information click here.

Marshalls/Spotters (Thursday, July 12th through Sunday, July 15th only): Provide on-course crowd and noise control. Assist players with locating tee shots. For more information click here.

Player Services: Staff information desk for players and their families. Provide locker room services. For more information click here.

Practice Facility: Issuing golf balls, clearing practice stations, raking practice bunkers. For more information click here.

Pro-Am Services (Sunday, July 8th through Tuesday, July 10th only): Assist at the Pairings Party Sunday evening and with the Pro-Am rounds on Monday and Tuesday. For more information click here.

Scoring (Thursday, July 12th to Sunday, July 15th only): Walking scorers, leaderboard operators, starters and central scoring. Standard bearers needed for weekend rounds only. For more information click here.

Transportation (Shuttle Drivers) (from Sunday, July 8th through Monday, July 16th): Transport Guests (TOUR players, TOUR Officials and Celebrities) to/from the airport, golf course, practice facility and other venues. For more information click here.

Please note: After completing your payment of the Volunteer Fee, you will receive an email with details about ordering the volunteer package.
Dress code for Volunteer’s own pants, shorts, skirts/skorts or capris: prefer black. No denim, sweats, jogging or sloppy cargo pants. No stirrup pants, tights, nor short-shorts allowed. On course volunteers should wear smooth rubber sole shoes.

INTEGRITY PROGRAM: The PGA TOUR Integrity Program is intended to maintain integrity and prevent betting-related corruption in PGA TOUR competitions. Each volunteer is subject to the terms of the PGA TOUR Integrity Program Manual (the “Integrity Program Manual”). The Integrity Program Manual, among other things: prohibits volunteers from betting on the Tournament and providing inside information to third parties for purposes of betting on the Tournament; and requires volunteers to report any violations of the Integrity Program Manual to the TOUR. A violation of the Integrity Program may result in dismissal from volunteering for the Tournament, among other consequences.

I request permission to participate as a volunteer at the Staal Foundation Open presented by Tbaytel. I agree to abide by all the rules and regulations adopted and published by PGA TOUR Canada relating to the operation and conduct of the Tournament and use of the facilities provided by the Tournament. I understand that my failure to observe these rules may result in my being excluded from participation at the Tournament.

I represent that I am physically able to participate as a volunteer at the Tournament. I fully understand and agree that my participation at the Tournament may entail the risk of physical injury. I agree to assume such risk and to waive any claim of any kind whatsoever, whether resulting from an injury or otherwise, rising from my participation at the Tournament. I further agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless the PGA TOUR, the Tournament, Whitewater Golf Club and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, and/or representatives from any and all liability occurring as a result of my participation at the Tournament.

I will be personally responsible for any financial cost incurred as a result of my participation at the Tournament, including, without limitation, transportation or medical expenses incurred as a result of any injury.

I understand that the Tournament assumes no liability of lost, misplaced, stolen and/or damaged personal property and I hereby agree to release the Tournament from any such liability.
