Crowds come out to visit with hockey great
Tuesday, July 14, 2015/Thunder Bay - Organizers say the crowds on the second day of the Staal Foundation Open presented by Tbaytel, who came to see Bobby Orr and watch the Can Op Pro-am, definitely weren’t disappointed.
“The community has been buzzing since we announced he was coming” said Scott Smith, Executive Director. “Today was exactly what we expected. A lot of people came out to see Bobby and partake in the great weather and a great event. Bobby was extremely generous with his time in accommodating as many requests for photos and autographs as he could.”
Over 200 golfers were out on the course, some since 6:50 a.m., for the Can-Op Official Pro-Am with play continuing throughout the day. Orr toured the course and visited with team members and the public throughout the morning and early afternoon.
“I believe it is important for those of us fortunate enough to play professional sports to give back. The Staal Family understands that very well. I am very pleased to be here to help them out today,” said Orr.
Tomorrow will be an official practice day for the Mackenzie Tour-PGA TOUR Canada event, with official play beginning on Thursday morning. For a full schedule of events and activities visit staalopen.ca
